This metaphor is so messed up. If its life dragging you back, you can’t aim, you are the arrow in this metaphor. And what happens to an arrow? It flies in high speed in one direction (unless influenced by wind or some other outside force) with no control over its trajectory while squirming around. And at the end one of a few things happens
1) It strikes an obstacle and burries itself in it (possibly killing or injuring someone/something), Getting stuck until someone pulls it out.
2)It strikes an obstacle which is too hard and it cant penetrate it so it bounces of and falls on the ground (possibly breaking in the process). It stays on the ground until someone picks it up.
3) There are no objects in its path and it again falls to the ground where again it stays until someone picks it up.
So yeah sorry but no arrow is not a good metaphor for life getting better.It might be an ok metaphor for life being sucky and uncontrolable, but i dont think people would want to use that :|
Oh and btw you could probably shoot arrow with presurized air or small conrolled explosion, so yeah.
